DAYTON, Ohio - Three Rhody players scored in double figures, but it was not enough as the Rhode Island women's basketball team (9-19; 2-12 Atlantic 10) dropped a 75-56 decision to Dayton Wednesday night at UD Arena.

Freshman Anisha Wilson came off the bench and scored a career and game-high 18 points as she connected on 7-of-16 shots from the field. Fellow freshman Ashley Rivera and junior Megan Shoniker also chipped in offensively with 10 points apiece.

Senior Lindsay Harris pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to lead the Rams.

Dayton jumped out to an 11-2 lead at the 15:03 mark in the first half, but Rhody fought back as it outscored Dayton 9-7 over the next five minutes, but still trailed 18-11 with just over 10 minutes to go in the opening period.

The Flyers responded to Rhody's offensive attack as they went on a 9-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 27-11 lead with just over six minutes to play in the first half.

Rhody went into the locker room, trailing 38-21 at the half. The Rams shot just 29.6 percent in the first half, while Dayton connected at a 35.3 percent clip.

In the second half, Dayton jumped out to a 20-point lead, leading 44-24 at the 17:15 mark and never looked back as it cruised to its sixth win in its last seven games.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they welcome St. Bonaventure to the Ryan Center at 2 p.m. for National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
