How it Happened
In the first A-10 conference game of the 2011 season,
Massachusetts netted goals in the 20th and 36th minutes, taking a
2-0 win on Saturday afternoon. With Massachusetts' victory,
the Minutemen extend their win-streak to five games and Rhode
Island earned its second consecutive loss. For the first goal,
Deanna Colarossi scored a header from the corner, with Tori Sousa
recording the assist. Julie Morrissey scored the second goal, her
fifth of the season, on a sliding shot from the right, with
Brittany Moore assisting.
What it Means
With the loss, the Rams fall to 5-5-1 overall and 0-1-0 in A-10
on the season. Massachusetts improves to 7-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in
A-10 play. Rhode Island is now 15-9-0 all-time vs. Massachusetts
since the series began in 1988. Last season, the Rams defeated the
Minutemen 1-0 at the URI Soccer Complex.
