Women's Soccer to Host No. 21 La Salle This Wednesday in Makeup

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Monday that the previously cancelled women's soccer game from Oct. 14 between host Rhode Island and visiting La Salle will be rescheduled for this Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. EST. The game will be played at the URI Soccer Complex.

The Rhody-La Salle Series:

  • Rhode Island leads: 11-3-1
  • Last meeting: Rhode Island beat the Explorers 3-1 in Philadelphia, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2010).
  • Current Streak: Rhode Island won in 2005, 2006 and 2007; La Salle in 2008 and 2009; Rhode Island won last season.

The Rhode Island Rams (6-9-1):

The La Salle Explorers (15-0-1):

  • Were chosen in the A-10 preseason coaches poll to take fourth place.
  • Have improved from their 2010 record (11-9-2).
  • Are 7-0-0 in A-10 play and 8-0-0 on the road.
  • Come to the URI Soccer Complex boasting a 14-game win streak with a season-high 13 shutouts.
  • Freshman Kelsey Haycook leads the Explorers in goals (15) and points (34), while sophomore Renee Washington is at the top in shots (53), shots-on-goal (34) and game-winners (six).
  • For La Salle, they edge their opponents in goals (39-4), shots-on-goal (116-56) and assists (43-4), and are two-for-two on penalty kicks.
