Inside the Box Score:

  • The win improves Rhody to 1-2 while Providence falls to 0-3.
  • Rhode Island shot a season-best 44.7% (17-38) from field while holding Providence to a 30.8% (16-52) showing from the floor.
  • Providence held a 39-32 edge in rebounding but Rhody had a 23-20 advantage on the defensive glass.
  • The Rams forced the Friars into 19 turnovers and finished with eight steals to PC's five.
  • Providence never led in the game, despite tying the score twice (2-2 and 37-37).
  • The Rams took their largest lead of the game (13 points; 52-39) with 00:17 remaining in the second half.
  • Cloutier netted a game- and career-high 14 points as well as a game- and career-high three steals.
  • Rivera (13) and Boone (10) also scored in double figures for Rhody.
  • Cloutier, Rivera and Wallack led the team with five rebounds apiece.
  • Wright was the only Friar to score in double figures as she netted 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Additional Notes:

  • The victory was URI's first over PC since the 2008-09 season.
  • It also marked Rhode Island's first-ever win over PC at the Ryan Center as the last time Rhody downed Providence at home was on Dec. 1, 1998.
  • Rhody is now 10-33 in the all-time series with Providence. Head coach Cathy Inglese, meanwhile, improves 14-9 all-time against the Friars.
  • Despite being the shortest player on the Rhody roster at 5-4, junior Ashley Rivera is currently the team's top rebounder with an average of 4.7 boards per game.
  • Boone has scored in double figures in each of Rhody's three games to date. Entering this season, she had only reached double figures once (10 points vs. Charlotte - 1/19/11).
  • Rhode Island is now 1-1 at the Ryan Center and 0-1 on the road.

What's Next:
Rhody travels to Siena for a Saturday afternoon tilt with the Saints - the first of seven consecutive road games for the Rams. Tip-off at The ARC is set for 2:00 p.m. Rhode Island is a perfect 4-0 in the all-time series vs. Siena. The last time the Rams and Saints met - on Nov. 17, 2008 - Rhody posted a 66-60 win in Albany, N.Y. Third-year head coach Cathy Inglese has turned in a 7-7 all-time mark against Siena. As the head coach at Vermont, Inglese was 5-7 against the Saints before going 2-0 at Boston College.
