Rams Face Saint Louis in Nationally Televised Matchup Sunday Afternoon

RHODE ISLAND vs. SAINT LOUIS
Rhode Island travels to Saint Louis for a Sunday afternoon meeting with the Billikens. Tip-off at Chaifetz Arena is set for 11 a.m. Central Time (Noon Eastern), with the game being televised, nationally, on CBS Sports Network. URI is 2-4 in the all-time series vs. the Billikens, posting its first and only victory in St. Louis on Jan. 23, 2008 (82-73). CBSSN also televised the last URI/SLU matchup - on Feb. 13, 2011 - where Megan Shoniker scored a career-high 35 points and connected on a Rhode Island-record 18 free throws in a 68-54 victory at the Ryan Center. Lara Gaspar also chipped in with 20 points for the Rams, whose win snapped a 21-game Atlantic 10 losing streak dating back to the 2009-10 season.

Over her 24+ years as a head coach, Cathy Inglese has only faced the Billikens twice, going 1-1 vs. SLU since taking over the Rhode Island program in 2009-10.

SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
Saint Louis - which is 6-12 overall and 0-3 in the Atlantic 10 - enters the game looking to snap a three-game losing streak since opening up Atlantic 10 play.  Prior to that the Billikens had closed out non-conference action with back-to-back wins over Saint Francis and Nebraska-Omaha. SLU is 4-5 when playing at home this season. The Billikens are led offensively by Courtney Webb's 11.2 points per game. Lorreal Jones enters the matchup averaging a team-best 8.6 rebounds while Jacy Bradley has dished out a team-high 66 assists. Collectively, SLU is averaging 60.1 points and 43.2 rebounds per game.

LAST TIME OUT: RHODE ISLAND FALLS TO GEORGE WASHINGTON, 63-42

  • With the loss, Rhode Island drops to 1-18 overall and 0-4 in the Atlantic 10. URI also drops to 6-36 in the all-time series vs. George Washington (9-9, 2-2) which picked up its first road victory in conference play.
  • URI shot 29.4% on the night, hitting 15-of-51 attempts from the field. GW, meanwhile, connected at a 45.8% (22-48) clip and hit was a perfect 15-for-15 from the free throw line.
  • The Rams held a 33-29 rebounding advantage, including a 12-5 edge on the offensive glass.
  • Rivera – who was two for her last 17 attempts from long range – matched her career-best with five three-pointers, all of which came in the first half of play. The Lowell, Mass. native also netted a game-high 17 points, marking the ninth time this season that she led the team in scoring.
  • Danni Jackson (16), Tiana Myers (15) and Megan Nipe (12) all scored in double figures for the Colonials.
