Men's Track & Field Places Third at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The men's track & field team earned a third-place finish on Saturday at Navy's Invitational in the Rams' first scoring meet of the indoor season.

Rutgers won with 182, Navy placed second with 156, the Rams took third with 140 and Temple placed fourth with 112.

The Rams claimed the top three spots in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles. Mark Castilletti (8.31), Shaikat Bardhan (8.42) and Wayne Seaton (8.33) earned first, second and third, respectively. Joseph Sliwoski placed seventh (8.75). In the finals, Seaton won (8.21) and Castilletti took third (8.28).

In the prelims of the 60m dash Rhode Island again swept the top three spots, with Nicholas Guscott (7.08), Michael DiMambro (7.16) and Victor Boonham (7.15) placing first, second and third, respectively. In the finals, Guscott won (7.05) and DiMambro earned second (7.09).

In the weight throw, Thaddeus Kusiak won (18.71m) and William Janes took fourth (16.84m).

Andrew Piscitelli (15.14m) and Sam Snyder (14.69m) earned second and third, respectively, in the shot put.

Rhode Island's 4x400m relay team (Victor Boonham, Ben Lakeman, Mark Castilletti and Anthony Davidson) took third in 3:19.94 and its 4x800m relay team (Daniel Shears, Marcos Rodriguez, Michael Cook and Nathan Wigton) placed fourth in 7:54.00.

Last week's Co-Rookie of the Week, Jalen Young, took second in the 400m dash in 49.38. Anthony Davidson earned sixth in 50.03.

In the long jump, Ronald Woodley (6.95m) earned third and Wayne Seaton (6.88m) placed fourth. And in the 200-meter dash Wayne Seaton (22.29) and Jalen Young (22.37) placed third and fourth, respectively.

Woodley placed second in the triple jump with 14.98m. Joseph Marini placed seventh (13.87m).

In the high jump, Rainford Thomas placed eighth (1.89m) and Matthew Dionne took 10th (1.84m).

James Strawderman earned second in the pole vault with 4.80m, while Jordan Burandt placed seventh with 4.20m.

Daniel Shears placed fifth (1:57.56) and Michael Cook took sixth (1:59.15) in the 800m run.

In the 500m run Angelo DePrimo (1:06.41) and John DiGangi (1:06.97) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

Next up, the Rams travel to Boston, Mass. for the Terrier Classic on Jan. 28. The meet is scheduled for 10 a.m. EST.
