Inside the Box Score:

  • With the loss, Rhode Island drops to 1-21 overall and 0-7 in the Atlantic 10. URI also drops to 2-13 in the all-time series vs. Richmond, which improves to 17-5 (5-3).
  • URI shot 38.6% on the afternoon, hitting 22-of-57 attempts from the field. Richmond, meanwhile, connected at a 46.4% (26-56) clip and connected on seven three-point attempts.
  • The Spiders held a 37-31 rebounding advantage as well as a 19-5 edge in assists.
  • The loss extended the Rams' slide to 19 games, setting a new program record for most consecutive losses in a single season.
  • Rhode Island trailed 39-29 after the first half but the Spiders came back from the break and scored 10 unanswered points to put the game out of reach as they led 18-or-more the rest of the way.
  • Straumann was the only Ram to score in double figures (10 pts), leading the Rams for the second time this season.
  • Oliver (23 pts), Rachael Bilney (17 pts) and Liz Brown (10 pts) all scored in double figures for Richmond. Brown (15 reb) and Wann (10 reb) led the spiders on the boards.


What's Next:
Rhody travels to Charlotte on Saturday for a 7 p.m. meeting with the 49ers. URI is 2-4 in the all-time series vs. Charlotte, picking up its last win - a 65-63 victory - on Feb. 24, 2008. Since then, Rhody has dropped four straight contests. The last time the teams met (Jan. 19, 2011), the Niners handed the Rams a 64-50 loss at the Ryan Center. In that game, Megan Shoniker (17) and Ajanae Boone (10) combined for 27 points while Caitlin Kearns grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Over her 24+ years as a head coach, Cathy Inglese has turned in a 0-2 record against Charlotte, dropping both games against the 49ers since coming to Rhode Island.
