Inside the Box Score:

  • With the loss, Rhode Island drops to 1-22 overall and 0-8 in the Atlantic 10. URI also falls to 2-5 in the all-time series vs. Charlotte, which improves to 15-8 (7-2).
  • Rhode Island shot 27.8% on the night, hitting 15-of-54 attempts from the field. Charlotte, meanwhile, connected at a 50% clip (27-54) and sank seven three-pointers.
  • The 49ers outrebounded Rhody, 40-31. Charlotte also held a 19-9 edge in assists and a 13-6 advantage in steals.
  • The loss extended the Rams' slide to 20 consecutive games, dating back to mid-November.
  • Rhody trailed 44-16 at halftime. The 16-point performance matched URI's season-low for a first half. The second half was a closer game with Charlotte only outscoring URI by nine (28-19) but it marked the first time this season that the Rams were unable to put 20 points on the board in either frame.
  • For just the second time this season, no Rhody player scored in double figures. Rivera led the team with nine points and three assists while Cloutier pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
  • Dowe and Hailey led the way for Charlotte, netting 13 points apiece. Dowe also finished with a game-high 15 rebounds and four steals.


What's Next:
After playing back-to-back road games at Richmond (Tuesday) and Charlotte (Saturday), Rhody returns to the Ryan Center for a Wednesday night meeting with the Duquesne. URI is 19-23 in the all-time series vs. the Dukes, picking up its last win - a 74-57 victory - on Jan. 12, 2007. Since then, Rhody has dropped four straight contests. The last time the teams met (Feb. 26, 2011), the Duquesne handed Rhody an 88-49 loss in Pittsburgh. In that game, Megan Shoniker led all players with 22 points while Lara Gaspar led the Rams on the glass with six rebounds. As a team, Rhody finished 27.1-percent from the field (16-of-59) while the Dukes shot 47.8-percent (32-of-67). Duquesne also won the battle of the boards, 48-34, and scored 40 bench points compared to URI's six. Over her 24+ years as a head coach, Cathy Inglese has turned in a 0-2 record against Duquesne, dropping both games against the Dukes since coming to Rhode Island.
