  • With the loss, Rhode Island drops to 1-23 overall and 0-9 in the Atlantic 10. URI also falls to 19-24 in the all-time series vs. Duquesne, which improves to 16-8 (4-5).
  • Rhode Island shot 32.6% from the floor, hitting 15-of-46 attempts from the field. Duquesne, meanwhile, connected at a 39.7% clip (23-58) and sank six three-pointers.
  • Both teams shot well from the free throw line. Rhode Island was 10-of-11 (90.9 %), while the Dukes were 11-of-13 (84.6 %)

Rhody returns to the Ryan Center for a Saturday afternoon meeting with La Salle. URI is 2-12 in the all-time series vs. the Explorers, picking up its last win - a 54-48 victory - on Jan. 27, 2009. Since then, Rhody has dropped back-to-back contests. The last time the teams met (Feb. 9, 2011), the Explorers handed Rhody a 61-49 loss in Philadelphia. In that game, Caitlin Kearns recorded her first double-double of the season (12p/10r) while Megan Shoniker scored a team-high 20 points and Lara Gaspar added 10. As a team, Rhode Island held a slight rebounding advantage (39-35) but committed 22 turnovers to La Salle's 14. Rhody also hit just 4-of-11 (36.4%) attempts from the free throw line while the Explorers connected at a 75-percent (12-of-16) clip. Over her 24+ years as a head coach, Cathy Inglese has turned in a 3-2 record against La Salle, going 3-0 at Boston College and 0-2 at Rhode Island.
