Rams In First Place After Day One of Wildcat Invitational

Setting the Scene:
Course: White Manor Country Club – Malvern, Pa. (par 72/7,358 yards)

The field: 13 teams, 71 total golfers

Weather: 60 degrees, partly cloudy; wind W 21 mph

Rhode Island's Individual Results:
* Branden Chicorka sits in second place after the first 36 holes of play.  The senior shot a 1-over par 72 during the morning session, carding birdies on the 7th and 17th holes.  During the afternoon session, Chicorka rattled off three straight birdies on the 10th, 11th, and 12th holes and shot a 1-under round of 70.

* Andrew Fiorenzano is tied for ninth place, with a score of 150.  Fiorenzano recorded a first round 76 (+5), followed by a score of 74 (+3) during the second round.  He birdied the 15th hole during both rounds on Monday.

* Nick Fairweather posted a first day score of 152.  The freshman opened the tournament with a score of 77, posting birdies on the 7th and 15th.  During the afternoon round, he improved by two strokes, carding a 75 and again posted a birdie on the 7th, as well as the 17th.

* Jared Adams and Jeffrey Ray are each tied for 20th place, sitting one shot behind Fairweather.  Both golfers registered identical scores of 75 during the first round and 78 in the afternoon session, for a total score of 153.  

Adams birdied the par 5 6th hole during the morning session and the 2nd and 7th holes during the final 18 holes of the day.

Ray fired back-to-back birdies on 9 and 10 during the morning session.

* Delaware's Braden Shattuck sits alone atop the leaderboard, with a 2-under total of 140.  He fired the low round of the tournament so far - a 3-under 68.

Rhode Island Team Results:
* The Rams sits in first place, with a two-round score of 595 - five strokes ahead of host Villanova and Delaware.  Rhode Island opened with a team score of 298 in the morning round and closed out the day one shot better, with a 297 during the afternoon session.  

What's Next:
Rhode Island closes out play in the Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday, April 2 with a final 18 holes of competition.
