Scouting the Rhode Island Rams:
- Senior captain Samantha Leyh scored the game-winner in a 1-0 extra time win over Saint Joseph's on October 3. Leyh has scored in three of her last six games and is tied with sophomore Nicole Brennan for the team lead in goals.
- Brennan, the team points leader, has at least a point in five of her last eight games, and a goal in four of seven. She is tied with Leyh for the team lead in goals (5), and leads the team in points and assists, while ranking in the top 10 in the conference in points, goals, and assists.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Nickles earned a win and a draw in the opening weekend of conference play. She has a 0.79 goals against average, the best in the conference for qualified keepers (GKs that have played half their team's minutes).
- The starting back four of Alex Stanton, Amanda Nardella, Rachael Lieberman, and Simone Hansen have combined for 4000+ minutes this year and have helped produce a team goals against average of 1.03, good for second in the conference.
Scouting the Minutewomen:
- The Rams are led by Jackie Bruno and Megan Burke, who have combined for seven goals and 15 points, through 13 games this season. Bruno has four goals and 31 shots in 11 games, while Burke has three goals, one assist, and 20 shots in 13 games.
- UMass has split the first three games of the season with a win, loss, and draw. Like the Rams, the Minutewomen tied George Mason and beat Saint Joseph's. The loss came against George Washington.
- Goalkeeper Cassidy Babin has posted a 0.87 goals against average and a .833 save percentage in five starts. Babin ranks third in the conference in GAA and save %.
- UMass is 6-12-5 on the road since the start of the 2012 season.
