How It Happened
Davidson established control early on, recording three corner kicks and rattling a shot off the post within the opening 10 minutes. However, it was Rhody that struck first when Ellie Bailes deflected in a service from Sarah Warjas at the 32:46 mark. Three minutes later, the teams entered a two-hour weather delay due to lightning and heavy rains.
After play resumed, Rhody was whistled for a foul in the box in the 39th minute. Goalkeeper Katie Nickles stopped the ensuing penalty kick, but Madison See slipped in the rebound to even things up at one apiece. The Wildcats then netted what would prove to be the game-winner with just 41 seconds remaining in the frame as Stephanie Piperno beat Nickles with a shot to the upper left 90.
For the Wildcats, the win snapped a five-game slide dating back to Oct. 3. Rhody, meanwhile, has dropped its second in a row marking the first time this season the Rams lose in back-to-back games.
