How It Happened

First Half

Ellie Bailes scored her second goal in as many games to get the scoring started in the first half. The junior captain. Fellow captain Dariann Sellitti flicked a header to Bailes who chipped it past the keeper from inside the 18. 

Second Half

The floodgates opened for the Rams in the second half as they added two goals in the frame. Nicole Brennan extended her team points lead as she headed in a free kick from Simone Hansen. Hansen and Taylor Ross earned assists on Brennan's sixth of the season.

Less than 20 minutes later, senior Samantha Rice scored her first career goal with an assist from fellow senior Chelsea Gates.

Richmond added a goal late in the game, but it was too little, too late, as the Rams triumphed, 3-1, and clinched an A-10 tournament berth.  

Additional Notes

  • The Rams will compete in the Atlantic 10 tournament for the first time under Michael Needham
  • Nicole Brennan scored her sixth of the season to extend her team lead in points and move into 33rd on the all time points list. 
  • Ellie Bailes has two goals in two games after being held scoreless up to this point of her junior season.

Rhode Island will head to Dayton, Ohio for the Atlantic 10 tournament. The Rams will play on Thursday, November 6, with the opponent and start time to be determined.
