How It Happened

First Half

The Rams controlled play for the opening 15 minutes of play, generating multiple offensive chances, but only putting one shot on goal. The Colonials took a bit longer to adjust to the situation, but once they did, they put five shots on goal, including the last one of the half that broke the scoreless draw.

With less than a minute remaining in the half, Brittany Cooper found space down the right sideline and drove a low cross in to the box where Kate Elson headed it off the far post and in for her second goal of the year.

Second Half

Rhode Island pushed for an equalizer in the final 45 minutes of regulation, putting three shots on goal out of eight total attempts, but were unable to beat George Washington keeper Miranda Horn.  The Rams outshot the Colonials 14-9 for the game and attempted five corners to GW's three. Katie Nickles made five saves in the losing effort, while Horn made four.
