How it Happened
Coastal Carolina (3-5) put up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first but Rhode Island quickly evened things up in the top of the second. Sophomore Chase Livingston, freshman Chris Hess and senior Andre Malone opened the frame with back-to-back-to-back walks for the Rams. Livingston would score on a wild pitch while Malone crossed the plate to make it 2-2 on an RBI single by junior Mike Sherburne.

Rhode Island (1-9) fell behind in the bottom of the inning however, as Coastal scored three runs on three hits and two URI errors to reclaim the lead at 5-2.

That would be it for senior starter Tyler Bowditch, who was replaced by freshman Evan Flanagan in the third. Flanagan tossed 4.1 shutout innings to keep the Rams in it and redshirt freshman Blaise Whitman followed with an inning and two-thirds of two-hit relief. However, the Rams were unable to advance a runner past second base for the remainder of the game.

The Chanticleers tacked on one more run in the eighth to cap off the 6-2 win.
