How It Happened

1st Half
After 19 minutes of mainly midfield play by both sides, Wagner won a corner kick and took advantage of it. Victoria Roda played the ball in from the corner and found Megan Fritz who drove a header past URI keeper Katie Nickles for her second goal of the season. Rhode Island nearly answered just minutes later when Samantha Leyh missed wide with a header off a cross by Ari Stanton. The Seahawks doubled their lead when Fritz scored her second of game in the 34th minute. Fritz took a feed from Siara Koplon and fired one to the upper right corner for the goal. In typical Rhody fashion, the Rams answered less than 90 seconds later when Nicole Brennan picked up a rebound in the box and emphatically ripped one past Wagner's keeper Katie Marcy. In the 43rd minute, Amanda Nardella scored her first Rhody goal, heading in a corner kick off the foot of Brennan.

2nd Half
Donika Murray had two solid chances in the second half for the Rams but launched both shots high over the goal. The Rams dominated the half, attempting 13 shots in the period, but neither team was able to break through until the 89th minute. Murray attacked the Wagner box in search of the potential game-winning goal and was able to draw a penalty kick and yellow card when she was taken out by Marcy, the keeper. Already the player of the match for Rhody, Brennan stood up and rocked one past Marcy to effectively win the game for the Rams.
