Rhode Island Defeats Vermont, 2-1 in Overtime Duel

How it Happened
Sophomore Emily Wakeford scored her first goal of the season at the 94:26 mark, propelling Rhode Island to the 2-1 victory at Vermont.

Rhode Island started the game strong, scoring off a free kick by Nicole Brennan two minutes into the first half. Senior goalkeeper Katie Nickles kept the net empty for the Rams until the 22nd minute, when freshman Julia Smith scored her third goal of the season for the Catamounts. The two teams went 1-1 into the half.

The second half was an evenly played match between the two teams.  Nickles stopped both shots on-goal during the second 45:00 of play and the two teams headed to overtime - the fourth time Rhody played in OT through five matches this season.
