Hendley Immediately Eligible for 2020-21

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island sophomore Yanni Hendley has been cleared by the NCAA and is eligible immediately, announced Tuesday. Hendley, who joined the Rams in January as a mid-year transfer from Virginia, will have a full four years to play at Rhode Island.

"We are so thrilled to have Yanni eligible this semester," women's basketball head coach Tammi Reiss said. "She adds so much energy and depth to our rotation. We couldn't be happier with this decision."

Hendley led Ursuline Academy to the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Associate to back-to-back state titles in 2016 and 2017 before finishing her high school career at Riverdale Baptist. While at Riverdale, Hendley helped the team win the 2018 Independent School National Championship. The Wilmington, Del. product played in the AAU circuit under Boo Williams and the Philly Belles. A 2019 National Association of Christian Athletes All-American, Hendley was named the Pigskin Club Girls All-Metropolitan Basketball Player of the Year.

The Rams open the 2020-21 season hosting Providence next Saturday, Nov. 28 at 1:00 p.m. Subject to change.
