How it Happened
Claire Ross drilled a game-winner into the upper left corner of the net to clinch a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship as the Rams knocked off Saint Louis in overtime Sunday afternoon.

Brooke Cavino caused a turnover in the Saint Louis end of the field, and Laila Rosenthal used a pretty flick to set up Ross. Ross used a light touch just outside the box and sent a perfect shot past the outstretched dive of Saint Louis keeper Emily Puricelli just 2:14 into overtime.

The Rams withstood heavy pressure from Saint Louis in the final 10 minutes of regulation. In the 81st minute, Abbie Miller put a shot off the left post. Then, keeper Faith Hutchins made a diving save to stop Caroline Kelly in the 84th minute. Finally, Miller nearly struck again in the 86 th minute, but her header off of a corner kicker hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced away safely.

What It Means
The victory clinched Rhode Island's first postseason bid since 2016. Thanks to Richmond's loss to Dayton, both Rhody and St. Bonaventure passed the Spiders in the final standings.

The Bonnies and URI tied for fifth place in the standings with 16 points each. St. Bonaventure will get the higher seed by virtue of its 1-0 victory over Rhode Island on Oct. 14.

The Rams will face Saint Louis in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship. Game time is set for Saturday, Oct. 30 at 2:00 p.m.
