Set Three – Fordham 25, Rhode Island 19
Entering the third set, Rhode Island needed to win the set by three or more points to win the tiebreaker with Fordham for the final spot in the conference tournament. With Rhody up 12-10, Fordham ran off five straight points to take a 15-12 lead to force a URI timeout. After the break, kills from Brynne Wright and Jamie Smith got Rhody within one point at 15-14, but a 5-1 Fordham run made the score 20-15. Try as it might, Rhode Island could not make up ground, and Fordham ended the set on a kill by Anelisa Cartledge and a URI attack error. By winning the set, Fordham clinched the tiebreaker between the teams and earned the final conference tournament spot.

Set Four –Rhode Island 25, Fordham 20

There were eight ties and four lead changes before a late run by Rhode Island finished off the match. With the teams tied 17-17, URI ended things with an 8-3 run that featured three Mariah Paulette kills and two Grace Hammond aces before Jamie Smith closed out the match with a kill.

Inside the Box Score
  • Rhode Island's season ended with a record of 13-19 overall and 5-11 in the Atlantic 10.
  • Rhode Island entered the day trialing Fordham by one match for the sixth and final spot on the Atlantic 10 Championship. URI needed to sweep the match while outscoring Fordham by at least 25 points combined in order to win the tiebreaker between the teams for the sixth and final spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
  • The first tiebreaker for the conference tournament is head-to-head match record, and the teams split two matches.
  • The second tiebreaker is head-to-head set record. After Fordham swept URI Friday night, Rhode Island needed to return the favor Sunday in order to keep its postseason hopes alive.
  • That led to the third tiebreaker, which is total points won head-to-head. After two sets, Rhode Island had closed the total point gap between the teams to two (103-101).
  • With her first dig of the match, senior Ella Ratzloff set Rhode Island's single season record, breaking the previous mark of 539 by Leslie Wiekamp in 2006. She finished with 31 digs, giving her 570 for the year.
  • The 31 digs was the fourth time in Ratzloff's career she had 30 or more in a match. The only other player to have 30 even once was Sue Scott, who had 32 against Penn State in 1986.
  • Ratzloff finished her career with 1,517 digs. She is the only URI player ever to record more than 1,500 digs.
  • Junior Claire Wagner led Rhode Island with 15 kills. She added 18 digs for her seventh double-double of the season.
  • Graduate student Jamie Smith had 14 kills and 15 digs for a double-double of her own. Smith ended her career with 1,262 kills, 496 assists and 939 digs.
  • Freshman Grace Hammond had a third double-double for Rhode Island, setting a career high with 49 assists and adding 10 digs. She also had six blocks and two service aces.
  • Despite missing two matches, Hammond finished her first season with 839 assists, 234 digs and 42 service aces.
