Set One – VCU 25, Rhode Island 22
A late surge by VCU helped the visitors take the opening set. Rhode Island used an 8-3 run to take a 15-10 lead after a
Brynne Wright kill. However, VCU responded with a 10-2 spurt of its own to pull ahead, 20-17, when Jasmine Knight and Katrina Davis teamed for a block. The teams traded points, and URI staved off two set points before Jovana Vukcevic buried a kill to put VCU up 1-0 in sets.

Set Two – Rhode Island 25, VCU 22
Neither side led by more than two points in the second set until
Brynne Wright recorded three consecutive kills for URI, giving Rhode Island a 22-18 lead. Kills from
Tori Britton and
Brittany Myers helped ger Rhody to set point at 24-20. VCU fought off two points, but URI evened the match when a service error was committed by VCU.

Set Three – VCU 25, Rhode Island 17
Rhode Island had a slight lead early after an
Abby Fillion ace put the team up 3-1. VCU rattled off eight of the next 10 points, led by Jasmine Knight. Knight had three kills and a pair of blocks during the run as VCU established a 9-5 lead. Rhody closed within two points on several occasions, but a 4-0 run for VCU gave it a 19-13 lead, and URI never threatened the lead again.
Set Four – VCU 25, Rhode Island 22
The final set was one of runs by both teams. VCU took four of the opening five points before Rhody responded with a 4-1 spurt of its own to tie it 5-5. A 5-1 VCU run made the score 10-6, and an ensuing 4-1 run gave the visitors a seemingly commanding 14-7 lead. However, Rhode Island stormed back with nine straight points, five of which came on VCU attack errors. Rhody had all the momentum and a 16-14 lead, but VCU ran off three in a row to move back ahead, 17-16. The teams went back and forth until a
Jamie Smith kill tied the set 21-21. VCU escaped with the win by ending the set and match with yet another 4-1 run.

- Rhode Island dropped its fourth match in a row, falling to 11-17 overall and 3-9 in Atlantic 10 play.
- Despite the loss, Rhody remained just one game out of the final spot in the A-10 championship, thanks to Fordham's loss to Saint Louis Friday.
- Rhode Island and Fordham play twice in the final four league matches for both teams.
- VCU had 68 kills, compared to 50 for URI.
- Freshman Grace Hammond had a double-double, finishing with 36 assists and 10 digs.
- Senior Ella Ratzloff had 22 digs, becoming the first player in program history to reach 1,400 for her career. She now has 1,421.
- This season, she has 474 digs, leaving her 65 shy of Leslie Wiekamp's single-season program record of 539 in 2006.
- The Rhody attack was well balanced. Sophomore Brynne Wright led the way with a career-high 15 kills, while graduate student Jamie Smith and freshman Brittany Myers each added 11.
- Smith and Wright each added four blocks to lead the defense at the net.
- VCU's Jasmine Knight had 19 kills and one error in 30 attacks. That led to a .600 attack percentage.
