How it Happened
In its first game in 24 days, Rhode Island didn't skip a beat in its A-10 opener, cruising past George Washington 73-42 Wednesday.

After George Washington (7-8, 0-2 A-10) scored the first basket, Rhody went on an 8-0 run to go up 8-2 and never looked back. A 3-pointer by Dolly Cairns pushed the lead to 15-4 at the first media timeout (4:10), and the Rams (11-3, 1-0 A-10) used a 7-4 run to close out the period up 22-8. In the second quarter, Rhody continued the momentum. The Rams scored three straight baskets from Anna Dreimane, Emmanuelle Tahane, and Cairns to start an 8-3 run that closed out the half with Rhody up by 20 (39-19).

The Rams built their lead to as many as 35 points in the fourth quarter, after Mayé Touré had a put back layup to make the score 68-33. George Washington connected on three straight 3-pointers, but it was too late as the Rams put the game away for their first conference win.
