How it Happened
Rhode Island swarmed Dartmouth from the start, using a stifling defense and an efficient offense to record the fourth largest margin of victory in program history. The Rams drubbed the visiting Big Green 89-36 Friday afternoon.

The Rams (1-1) established control midway through the first quarter, ending the period on an 18-0 run. Sayawni Lassiter got the spurt started with a 3-pointer that was created by good ball movement, with Emma Squires getting the assist. Lassiter then assisted on back-to-back Dolly Cairns shots. The first was a 3-pointer, followed by a transition pull-up jumper off a turnover, which forced Dartmouth (0-2) to call an early timeout. The Rams did not let up after the pause. A layup from Ines Debroise made the score 14-5 before Sophie Phillips took over, scoring eight consecutive points on two 3-pointers and a pair of free throws. By the time the first quarter ended, Rhody had a commanding 22-5 lead.

The Rams kept the pressure on in the second quarter, limiting Dartmouth to 5-of-25 from the field. URI scored 22 points for the second straight period, with Lassiter's 10 second-quarter points leading the way. The Rams scored 15 points off of 13 Dartmouth turnovers in the first half alone, helping Rhody take a 44-15 lead into halftime.

Any thoughts of a Dartmouth rally were squashed minutes into the third quarter. A 12-0 run to start the half pushed Rhode Island's lead to 56-15, and the Rams maintained control the rest of the way.
