How It Happened
A late first-half run by Wake Forest created a big gap and Rhode Island was never able to recover as the Rams fell, 59-45 Thursday afternoon.

Emmi Rinat hit a 3-point shot to pull Rhody (9-2) within 24-20 with 4:10 to go in the first half. From there, however, Wake Forest (9-4) ended the half on a 12-1 run to establish a 36-21 lead at the half.

The lead grew to as many as 27 when the Demon Deacons began the third quarter with a 19-7 run. Rhode Island did manage to trim the deficit back down to 14, but the outcome was not in doubt.
