How It Happened
A rough third quarter did in Rhode Island as the Rams fell at Dayton, 60-46, in the regular-season finale Saturday. With the win, the Flyers won the regular-season title while URI finished second in the final standings.

The game was tied 28-28 at the half, but Dayton held Rhode Island (22-5, 12-2 Atlantic 10) to just five points in the third quarter. The Rams were 1-for-10 from the field in the fateful third. The Flyers, on the other hand, were 8-for-18 in the quarter. The disparity helped Dayton scored 21 in the period to take a commanding 15-point lead into the final quarter.

The shooting of Jenna Giacone – who was 5-of-7 from 3-point range – was key for the Flyers, who improved to (23-4, 14-1 A-10). She scored a game-high 21 points.
