How It Happened
Fordham's Devon Miller dominated in the circle and at the plate while leading her team to an 8-1 victory over Rhode Island Sunday.
Miller pitched a complete-game two-hitter with eight strikeouts. After the leadoff batter of the game reached on an error, Miller retired 11 consecutive batters before
Ari Castillo nicked her for a solo home run with two outs in the top of the fifth.
At that point, Fordham (12-13, 4-4 Atlantic 10) had a 5-0 lead, with two of the runs being scored by Miller herself. She was 4-for-4 with a double, three singles, two runs batted in and two runs scored. Rachel Hubertus and Amanda Carey each added home runs as Fordham cruised to the three-game sweep.
Rhode Island (5-19, 1-7 A-10) dropped its seventh straight game overall. Â
