KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island had a pair of players honored by the Providence Gridiron Club Wednesday night. Rising senior
Caleb Warren was honored along with redshirt senior
Andre Bibeault, who was given the organization's Home State Hero Award.
During the ceremony – held at the Quonset "O" Club in North Kingstown – Warren was one of four college players honored as a team MVP. Also recognized were Brown's E.J. Perry, Bryant's Ryan Sadler and Salve Regina's Pete Noonan.
Each year, head coach
Jim Fleming honors a rising senior who is a program leader. Warren, a First Team All-CAA Football selection in 2021, had 23 catches for 385 yards and three touchdowns despite missing the final three games of the season with an injury.
"Caleb means a lot to our offense, and we have to be able to highlight him," Fleming said. "He is one of the guys whose production will have a major impact on our success next fall."
Bibeault has been a key member of the program for the last six years. A two-year captain, the Cumberland native arrived on a partial scholarship and worked his way to full-scholarship status. In 45 career games, he had 117 tackles and 13 tackles for loss.
"There is a spirit of Rhode Island that A.J. has really represented in a big way," Fleming said. "He has been such an inspirational guy for everyone involved with this football team. He represents our program and this state as well as anybody ever has."
