KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island redshirt senior
Patrick Agyemang has been named to the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, announced Thursday afternoon by United Soccer Coaches. The Hermann Trophy is the nation's highest individual honor, recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined in voting by Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. Agyemang is one of just 38 Division I players to appear on the list.
A native of East Hartford, Conn., Agyemang led Rhode Island in scoring last season, with 26 total points on 10 goals and six assists. He recorded points in 11 of URI's 17 games and had three games with multiple goals and/or assists. Most notably were his hat trick performance against Brown and his two-goal, one assist night in Rhody's A-10 quarterfinal win over Davidson. Following each of those performances, he was named to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week.
Agyemang also landed a spot on the A-10's Preseason All-Conference Team and was one of 30 Division I forwards recognized by United Soccer Coaches as a Player to Watch in 2022.
The Rams open the new season tonight at Penn State. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m.
