KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island women's soccer freshman
Lauren MacDonald earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team, the league announced Thursday. The honor comes after Rhody had its second postseason bid in three seasons under head coach
Megan Jessee. MacDonald is the first Ram to be named to the All-Rookie team since Allyson Reynolds in 2016.
In her first season in Kingston, MacDonald appeared in all 19 games for the Rams, making the start on 11 occasions. She finished the year second on the team in scoring, collecting five points on two goals and an assist. The pair of goals came in the win at George Mason and a game later recorded the first assist of her career in the win at St. Bonaventure.
The freshman took the most shots on the frame for Rhody and matched a team-high 33 shots.
In 2023 the Rams had a hot streak of five games in conference play, going 3-0-2 over those games to secure their spot in the A-10 Tournament for the second time in three seasons. As the No. 7 seed, Rhody eventually fell to No. 2 La Salle in the Quarterfinal Round.
