How it Happened
Rhode Island showed off its scoring power with a 3-0 victory over Stonehill on Sunday afternoon at the URI Soccer Complex.

Íñigo Etxegarai led the attack, scoring the initial goal that gave Rhody its first-half lead before assisting on another. His conversion came in the 28th minute when he curled a ball from Nikos Clarke-Tosczak into the top right corner of the net, awarding the home team a 1-0 advantage that it eventually took into the break.

Facing a one-goal deficit, Stonehill had a chance to tie the score in the 57th minute when a player split a pair of defenders to earn an open look at the net, but Nate DiLoreto dove across the net to preserve his shutout.

After numerous threats, the Rams added to their lead in the 69th minute when Etxegarai dribbled past his defender and fed a ball to Nate Yurkovic who cut in from the left side and threaded it past the goalkeeper for his first career score to make it 2-0.

Less than 10 minutes later, Michael Hofstetter officially put the game out of reach when he drilled a penalty kick into the top right corner of the net to propel Rhode Island to its final edge of 3-0.
