How it Happened
Rhode Island came out on the losing side of a hard-fought battle with in-state foe Providence College on Sunday evening at the URI Soccer Complex, trailing its visitors 1-0 at the final whistle.

The lone goal of the night was scored in the 26th minute when a Friar drilled a ball left-to-right, past the outstretched hands of the Rams' keeper.

Rhody had started off the contest with great pressure offensively, as Cristina Sallent fired off a shot that helped the team earn a corner kick within the first minute. The Rams went on to take nearly 10 shots in the opening 45 minutes, but were unable to net the equalizer.

Providence controlled the tempo out of the break, firing off six shots within the initial 10 minutes of the second half. Rhode Island continued to try and create opportunities as the clock wound down, getting a good look when Sam Hagerty got her foot on a ball in the 87th minute but her look went just wide of the net.
