Boston College was relentless, sweeping Rhode Island 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-12) Tuesday night.
Set One - Boston College 25, Rhode Island 18 Â
The opening set remained relatively close in the early going, as the Rams trailed just 12-9 following a ball handling error and attack error on back-to-back plays for BC. However, the Eagles scored five of the next six points to extend to a 17-10 lead, and Rhody could not trim the deficit below five points the rest of the way.
Set Two - Boston College 25, Rhode Island 15Â
Boston College took the lead three points into the set and never gave it up. The Eagles powered their way to 13 kills, while also limited URI to eight kills with seven attack errors. BC converted 14 of 16 sideout chances (87 percent), preventing Rhody from establishing rhythm.
Set Three - Boston College 25, Rhode Island 12
A 10-0 run turned a four-point BC lead into a 23-9 deficit, quickly ending the match. During the run, Julia Haggerty delivered three kills, two solo blocks and a block assist as she took over offensively and defensively.
