No. 22 Rams Hold Steady in Polls

KINGSTON, R.I. - Following a narrow loss to FBS foe Georgia State in the season opener, Rhode Island jumped up to No. 22 in the AFCA Coaches Top 25 while dropping one spot to No. 22 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll.

The Rams (0-1) lost to the host Panthers by just one possession at 42-35 last Thursday night in Atlanta. Despite quarterback Kasim Hill throwing for a career-high 408 yards and matching his best with four touchdown passes, Rhody was unable to overtake Georgia State. The 35 points scored by the offense marked the fourth-straight year that the unit put up at least that in a season debut.

Despite dropping from its preseason total of 73 points to 65, Rhode Island moved up from No. 23 to No. 22 in the coaches poll. For their loss, the Rams were lowered by one spot in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25.

CAA Football was represented by a total of four programs on both outlets' respective lists. Each organization has William & Mary at No. 4, New Hampshire slotted 11th and Delaware at No. 19.

Rhode Island will begin its home slate this Friday, Sept. 8 against Stony Brook. The game against the SeaWolves is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Meade Stadium.
