RHODE ISLAND VS. SAINT JOSEPH'S- SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island hosts its second straight conference opponent at home this week in the Saint Joseph's Hawks.
- Rhody enters the matchup with a 6-7-2 record, coming off a tough 2-1 loss to St. Bonaventure at home on Thursday night.Â
- St. Joe's holds a slight edge on the Rams, with a series record of 13-8-4.Â
- The last three matchups between the teams have resulted in a Rhody win (2-1) on April 3rd, 2021 and two scoreless ties on September 25th, 2022 and September 14th, 2023.
- The first meeting between the schools was Oct. 4, 1996 in a 1-0 Hawks win.
- The Hawks are 3-0-1 in their last four trips to the URI Soccer Complex. The Rams haven't beaten St. Joe's in Kingston since an Oct. 3, 2014 1-0 overtime victory.Â
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
- Saint Joseph's comes to Kingston on a four-game unbeaten streak, including two straight wins over George Mason (1-0) and St. Bonaventure (1-0).
- Last time out, Sarah Fisher netted her fourth goal of the season in the 1-0 win over the Patriots.
- Fisher and Emily Hanrahan both have a team-best four goals to their credit this season.
- Natalie Nevens leads the Hawks with 11 points on three goals and five assists.
- Katie Cappelletti has been between the posts for majority of the season for St. Joe's, making 74 saves.
- The Hawks are 2-2-3 on the road this season.
SENIOR DAY
- This Sunday will be senior day for the Rams, with a pregame ceremony set to kick off at 12:10 p.m.
- Seniors Cayla Cajilig, Mie Carstensen, Tierra Garniss, Francesca Highton, Emma Kirkpatrick, Abby McCarthy, Nicolette Scarduzio, and Cristina Sallent will all be honored prior to one of their last matches at the URI Soccer Complex.
- McCarthy and Sallent, along with grad senior Sam Hagerty, served as team captains this season. Hagerty, who returned for her fifth year, was honored at last year's senior day.Â
