How it Happened
Rhode Island settled for a 1-1 tie with Saint Joseph's, despite a heavy advantage in shots.

Less than three minutes into the match, a long service from the Saint Joseph's back line covered half the length of the field and bounced toward the box. Sarah Fisher headed the ball past Rhody keeper Chelsea Mohammed, who had come out to the top of the box to play the ball. Fisher than got behind the defense and corralled her own touch and slid the ball into the net for the first goal of the day.

In the 14th minute, Allison Gilbert sent a long free kick down the right side of the field. It went off the head of a Saint Joseph's player and deflected to Lauren MacDonald in the corner, who sent a high cross past the net. Sam Hagerty played the volley out of the air, scoring the tying goal for the Rams.

Jill Rosenfeld nearly put URI on top in the 28 th minute. She made a long run down the left side, carrying the ball into the box. Despite being flanked by two defenders, Rosenfeld put a shot between Hawks' keeper Katie Cappelletti and the near post. The ball hit both Cappelletti and the post and rolled dangerously along the end line before being cleared away.

Saint Joseph's had a break in the 79th minute when Olivia Benzing was open behind the defense. She found the back of the net, but not before being flagged for offsides, negating the goal.

Rhode Island had two excellent chances in the final 2:30. Emma Kirkpatrick sent a left-footed cross into the box that Tierra Garniss headed just wide of the left post. Moments later, Garniss took a pass from MacDonald and touched a pass to Hagerty. Hagerty's shot unfortunately went right into the hands of Cappelletti, whose ninth save preserved the tie.
