How it Happened
In a match that determined the final postseason bids for the Atlantic 10 Championship, Davidson came out on top, handing Rhode Island a 2-0 loss Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the host Wildcats tied Rhode Island for eighth place in the conference standings. By virtue of the head-to-head result, Davidson claimed the final spot in the league championship. URI missed by one spot despite having its highest win total since 2014.

Davidson took the lead early when Sophia Whiddon fired a high shot into the right corner of the net in the 18th minute. Whiddon's goal in was assisted by Dakota Lyons, who later added an insurance goal in the 25th minute.

Davidson keeper Emily Smith made five saves while blanking Rhode Island.
