How it Happened
Fordham controlled play from the start, allowing just seven lead changes as they swept Rhode Island 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) at the Rose Hill Gymnasium Tuesday night.

Set One – Fordham 25, Rhode Island 19

With Rhode Island (8-17, 3-9 Atlantic 10) ahead 7-3 in the opening set, Fordham (7-14, 3-9 A-10) scored the next seven consecutive points to jump ahead 10-7. An Aerin Bowman kill put a halt to the home team's rally and brought Rhody back within two, but it was not enough to sustain momentum. Fordham outscored the Rams 5-3 down the stretch as back-to back kills from Lorenza Rosenkilde solidified the result.

Set Two – Fordham 25, Rhode Island 20

Fordham kept the momentum going in the second set, jumping out to an early 6-3 lead off the back of three Whitley Moody kills. The Rams slowly chipped away at the lead from there, as a solo block from Chloe Abuto brought the Rams within one at 12-11. That was as close as Rhode Island could get as the Maroon and White went on to score seven out of the next 10 points to create a deficit Rhode Island could not overcome. Rhody scored just one more time at the 23-20 mark off a Fordham service error but kills from Whitley Moody and Lorenza Rosenhilde secured the second set for the home team.

Set Three – Fordham 25, Rhode Island 21

Rhody put up its strongest fight in the third set but it was not enough to prolong the action. With the score tied at 18-18, Fordham used a 3-0 push to jump out in front 21-18. Rhode Island scored two out of the next three points with kills from Erika Bracey and Havyn Rolle, however Rhode Island could not keep up the momentum. Madi Disu was the last Ram to score as she knocked in her eighth kill of the night at 21-24, but a Rhody attack error clinched the 3-0 Fordham sweep.
