KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island had two players honored on the 2024 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer All-Conference Team, as midfielder Lucas Lykkegaard earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team and forward Íñigo Etxegarai was named to the All-Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday.

A sophomore playing his first collegiate season, Lykkegaard played in 15 matches, making 11 starts. He played both in the midfield and on the backline for the Rams, logging more than 1100 minutes on the pitch. He had one goal, which came in his Rhody debut in a 2-0 win over St. John's.

Lykkegaard is the first Ram to earn All-Rookie honors since Isak Oystese and Cian Purcell both did so in 2021.

Etxegarai led Rhode Island in points (10) and goals (4) while also finishing second on the team with a pair of assists. In the classroom, he posted a 3.95 grade-point average in Chemistry. All four of Etxegarai's goals came in conference play, and he was the only player on the team to appear in every match this season. He started 11 of Rhode Island's 17 matches, and his four goals came on 13 total shots and eight shots on goal.

Etxegarai is the 19th Rhode Island player to earn A-10 All-Academic honors in the 12 seasons Gareth Elliott has been the head coach.
