Football Rises in National Rankings

KINGSTON, R.I. - On the heels of its senior day victory, Rhode Island Football moved up in both the Stats Perform and AFCA Top 25 rankings released on Monday morning, coming in at No. 13/15. 

The Rams (9-2, 6-1 CAA Football) defended Meade Stadium with a 20-17 win over UAlbany on Saturday afternoon, securing the team's first unbeaten season at home (6-0) since 1985. Rhode Island shut out the visiting Great Danes in the second half, overcoming a 17-0 deficit by scoring 20 unanswered points. 

Rhode Island, tabbed No. 15/18 a week ago, was one of four CAA Football teams ranked by Stats Perform. The outlet had Richmond at No. 10, Villanova at No. 15, Stony Brook at No. 18 and New Hampshire at No. 24. William & Mary collected the second-most votes, coming in with 69. 

The AFCA listed the Spiders seventh, 'Nova 14th and the Seawolves 20th. Both the Tribe (29) and the New Hampshire Wildcats (seven) earned votes. 

URI will close out its regular season on the road at Bryant on Saturday, Nov. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on FloSports.
