How It Happened
Rhode Island's season came to an end with a 2-1 loss to Davidson Saturday night at the URI Soccer Complex.
Noah Louzan scored the winning goal in the 87th minute, securing a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship for the Wildcats in the process. Vincent Bennage set up the goal with a cross from the right side that Louzan sent into the back left corner of the net.
Davidson broke through in the 54th minute. A free kick for the Wildcats pinballed inside the box off several players before Lyman Ott knocked it in for the 1-0 lead.
Rhode Island broke through in the 71st minute.
Isak Oystese sent a through pass into the box that went off a Davidson defender and found the foot of
Brandon Bermingham. In a 1-on-1 with Wildcat keeper Lucas Beltran, Bermingham won the test for his third goal of the season.
Unfortunately that was all the Rams were able to get on the night as the season ended with a sixth consecutive loss.
