How it Happened
Rhode Island snapped a five-game losing streak in emphatic fashion, drubbing Saint Francis 77-37 Friday in front of a raucous Education Day crowd in the Ryan Center.

Rhode Island (5-8) limited the Red Flash (2-11) to eight points or less in three of the four quarters. On the other end of the floor, URI made a season high with 11 3-pointers as it got its offense on track in a big way.

The Rams scored the first five points of the game and never looked back. Sophie Phillips sank a pair of 3-pointers and Harsimran "Honey" Kaur added one of her own as the Rams used the perimeter to establish an early advantage. The defense forced nine first-quarter turnovers as Rhody scored 10 points off turnovers in the period. An Ayanna Franks jumper pushed the lead to double digits at 17-6 nine minutes into the game.

The onslaught continued into the second quarter, as Rhody scored the first 9 points of the period to extend its lead to 20 points after a pair of Hawa Komara free throws. Kaur added two more 3-pointers before the half ended as URI carried a 35-14 edge into the break.

The lead swelled to as many as 30 late in the third when an Albina Syla jumper put the Rams ahead, 57-27. The Rhode Island lead reached as many as 40 points as the Rams cruised throughout the final period.
