Live Stats

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island opens its Spring season Monday when it competes at the two-day, three-round Surf Club Invitational. Hosted by Appalachian State, the tournament will be played on Surf and Beach Club course in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

This year's 18-team field includes fellow Atlantic 10 school Dayton, as well as New England rivals Connecticut and Holy Cross. Also in the field are Bucknell, Butler, Central Michigan, Delaware, LeMoyne, LIU, Maryland-Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, Presbyterian, Queens and Radford. Host Appalachian State will have two squads entered.

This is the third year in a row the Rams will head to the Surf and Beach Club. Last year, Rhody placed ninth out of 18 teams in the field. The Rams had two of the top six individual finishers, as Bryson Richards tied for fourth place out of 108 golfers and Brandon Gillis was sixth. Gillis – now Rhode Island's assistant coach – fired a 6-under par 65 on the final day of the tournament to shoot 20 spots up the leaderboard.
