How It Happened
Rhode Island (2-16) split a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech Tuesday to wrap up its seven-game road trip. The Rams won the opening game to snap a 13-game losing streak.
Game 1 – Rhode Island 9, Tennessee Tech 7
Cassie Swenson swung a big bat in the opener, driving in five runs to lead the offense. Her biggest hit was a bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning that gave Rhody a 7-3 lead at the time.
Ashley Hibbard (1-2) and
Liz Lynchard each pitched 3.0 innings of relief to make sure the Rams held on for the win.
Game 2 –Tennessee Tech 4, Rhode Island 0
Tennessee Tech pitcher Peyton Wagner (4-1) scattered five hits – four of which were singles, as she stymied the Rams in the second game.

- Cassie Swenson tripled, doubles, drove in a career-high five runs and scored once in the first game. She also had a single that was later overturned and ruled an error.
- Skyler Rapuano singled twice, walked and scored three runs in the opener.

What's Next
Rhode Island opens Atlantic 10 play with a three-game series at Fordham, which the Rams eliminated in the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship. The series starts with a doubleheader Saturday, March 16 at 12 p.m.
