How It Happened
Rhode Island's struggles continued with a pair of mercy-rule losses at the hands of Stonehill Wednesday, as the Rams fell 9-1 and 10-0, both in five innings. Rhode Island (7-29) has dropped its last five games.
Game 1 – Stonehill 9, Rhode Island 1 (5 inn.)
After two scoreless innings, Stonehill posted back-to-back big innings, scoring four runs in the third and five more in the fourth inning to end the opener early.

Harper Sullivan's two-run single in the third inning opened the scoring, and a URI error led to two more runs in the frame. Shannon Conte's solo homer in the fourth sparked a five-run rally that also included a two-run single from Jessica Brill.
Vicki Viaclovsky's first home run of the season in the top of the fifth provided Rhody's lone run of the game.

Rhode Island managed to get on the scoreboard with
Vicki Viaclovsky sending a home run to left field, but the Skyhawks closed out the game as freshman Alex Sciaretto (Bristol, Conn.) threw a complete game to secure a 9-1 win in five innings.
Game 2 – Stonehill 10, Rhode Island 0
It took Stonehill three batters to establish a lead in the second game. Shannon Conte led off with a double, Chloe Kelly had a bunt single and Harper Sullivan singled to left to bring in Conte for the quick 1-0 lead. With two outs, Jessica Brill drilled a three-run shot to make the score 4-0.

Conte added a three-run homer one inning later to give the Skyhawks a commanding 7-0 lead. A single run in the third and two more in the fifth set up a third consecutive mercy-rule loss for Rhode Island.

- Junior Emily Power continued to be a bright spot in the lineup, getting three hits in six at bats. She doubled and had two singles while boosting her batting average to .318.
- Freshman Zoe Rensel hit safely in both games, extending her hitting streak to five games.
- Rensel has raised her batting average by 94 points to .294 during the streak.
- Sophomores Casey Miller and Kylie Bulinski each had a pair of singles.
