Reiss Lands Pair of Commitments from Transfers Cia Eklöf, Harsimran Kaur

KINGSTON, R.I. — Rhode Island women's basketball head coach Tammi Reiss announced Monday the signing of a pair of transfers, landing Washington State's Cia Eklöf and San Diego's Harsimran "Honey" Kaur.

Eklöf joins the Rams after spending two years at Washington State. The 5'10 guard saw playing time in seven games in 2023-24, logging a season-high eight points, two rebounds, and two assists in 19 minutes in a Cougars win over A-10 foe UMass. "Rhody Nation let's welcome Cia to the family!" Reiss said. "Cia is a skilled 3-level scoring guard. She really fills a void we have with her ability to shoot the 3-ball."

Eklöff is the second Washington State transfer under Reiss, who added grad transfer Johanna Muzet back in 2020-21. Reiss continued, "She loves playing in transition and getting up and down the floor. Cia has great positional size and a phenomenal motor and she competes every second on the floor! I love the fact that she has three years to play in our system and be developed. Cia has aspirations of playing pro at the highest level and is a relentless worker!"

Kaur, a 6'4 forward, comes to Kingston after a breakout year in 2023-24 with San Diego. "We are ecstatic to welcome Honey to our Ram Family," Reiss said. "Honey is an experienced, athletic, mobile post player with the ability to score with her back to the basket and with her face-up game. She runs the floor and fits perfectly into our uptempo transition style."

After averaging 5.5 minutes per game in her first two years with the Toreros, Kaur logged 22.4 minutes per game last season. She started in 29 of 31 games her junior campaign, averaging 8.6 points and 5.0 rebounds each time out. Kaur scored a season-high 21 points in the opening round of the WCC Basketball Championship against Pepperdine. "She has an infectious high energy personality and is a natural born leader who is all about the 'We' over the 'Me'", finished Reiss. "What I love most about her is her determination and work ethic. Honey has big goals and dreams and will live in the gym to achieve them."

The duo will join a Rams team that finished 21-14 in 2023-24, including a run in the Atlantic 10 Tournament that ended with Rhody finishing as runner-up in the Championship Final. It was the third 20-win season in five years under Reiss.
