AMHERST, MASS. — Rhode Island men's track and field won the UMass Flaship Opener, collecting 77 points in the meet. The hosts finished with 74 points behind the Rams, and Northeastern (69), CCSU (66) and Holy Cross (56.4) rounded out the top five.

Highlights from Competition
- Alex DeStefano claimed first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.40 meters.
- Derek Chalmers won the long jump after leaping 6.92 meters. Isaiah Webster finished fifth (6.56m).
- Chris Tavarone won the shot put with a throw of 16.50 meters. Theo Puterbaugh placed third (15.58).
- Tavarone also claimed first in the discus after throwing a mark of 45.59 meters. CJ McDermott was the next top finisher for Rhody with his 41.39-meter mark (8th).
- Alexander Baez placed second in the hammer throw (58.57m).
- The Rams had three runners represent in the 100 meters, led by Israel Henriques-Setho (10.88s) and Derek Chalmers (10.91) who finished 12th and 14th, respectively. Nate Shultz finished 29th after crossing the finish line in 11.21 seconds.
- Henriques-Setho and Shultz also competed in the 200m, finishing 10th (22.11s) and 44th (23.48s).
- In the 110m hurdles, Kai Schmidt-Bilowith finished second in 14.39 seconds.
- Cooper Mitchell was seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.72 seconds.
- Nick Martin finished third in the 3000m steeplechase (9:23.93) while Jesse Principe finished eighth (10:03.47).
- Rowan McConkey placed second in the high jump after clearing 1.90 meters.
- Damian Scouloukas finished 19th in the javelin with a mark of 35.25 meters.
