FAIRFAX, VA. — The Rams had a strong showing in the first day of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The Rams ended day one of competition with 70 points through six events scored, ahead of George Mason (68 pts).

Day One Results

Champions Crowned

• Derek Chalmers completed the long jump sweep, defending his indoor title with a 7.23 meters leap for the outdoor crown.
• Lucas Frost picked up his fourth straight javelin title, heaving 64.40 meters for the gold medal. He won the event in 2021, 2022, 2023 and now 2024.

Final Finishes

• Nick Martin was fourth in the 3000m steeplechase in a personal-best time of 9:11.32.
• Ben Fleischer had a time of 29:50.53 for fourth in the 1000 meter, also a personal-best.
• Alexander Baez finished with silver in the hammer throw, heaving 60.61 meters. Nate Field was fifth (53.73m).
• Israel Henriques-Setho picked up a podium finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.19 meters for third. Matt Santy was fourth (7.01m) and Isaiah Webster was fifth (6.89m).
• Mason Brubaker placed third in the pole vault after clearing 4.85 meters. Alex DeStefano (4.55m), Damian Scouloukas (4.40m), and Neil Waldhausen (4.25m) rounded out the finishes for the Rams.

Heading to Sunday

• Jarrett Young won the 400 meter prelims in 47.55 seconds to advance to Sunday's final. Nick Morrison will join him after finishing eighth in a time of 48.91 seconds.
• Both Devin Donahue and Kai Schmidt-Bilowith are headed to the 110m hurdles final on Sunday after crossing the finish line in qualifying times of 14.49 and 14.56 seconds.
• Antonio Capalbo was 13th in the 1500m prelims with a qualifying time of 3:58.73.
• The Rams had four advance to the 100m final, led by Tristen Howard's fourth-place finish (10.74s). Jolon O'Connor (10.76s), Alex Arbogast (10.77s) and Liam Creeley (10.78) will join him Sunday.
• Collin Ochs crossed the finish in 1:55.07 in the 800 meter prelims to qualify for the final.
• Rhody took the 1-2-3 in the 200 meter prelim, with Creeley leading the way at 21.63 seconds. Steven Doss (21.66s) and Young (21.74s) are set to join him Sunday. O'Connor also advanced with a time of 21.91 seconds.

Decathlon

• Devin Donahue sits third in the decathlon with 3357 points.
• Damian Scouloukas is fifth with 3148 points.
• Neil Waldhausen is the third Ram competing in the decathlon. He sits eighth after day one with 2428 points.
