How it Happened
The balanced efficiency of No.24 Dayton was too much for Rhode Island to keep up with as the home team completed the 3-0 sweep (25-12, 25-12, 25-15 ) Saturday afternoon at the Frericks Center.

Set One - Dayton 25, Rhode Island 12
The Rams (5-10, 0-2 Atlantic 10) remained within striking distance of Dayton (12-1, 2-0 Atlantic 10) at the start of the opening set until a 9-0 run put the home team up, 18-7. A block from sophomores Chloe Abuto and Megan Disu put the Rams over double-digits, but the home team continued to cushion their lead, while Rhode Island scored just two more times. Dayton's Lexie Almodovar recorded her eighth kill in the match as Taylor Russell knocked in her first kill to secure the opening set.

Set Two - Dayton 25, Rhode Island 12
Dayton jumped ahead of the Rams early using a 7-0 push to put the home team up 16-8. Rhode Island rallied with their own three-point rally but The Flyers continued to keep their foot on the gas. Dayton had another six point push down the stretch off the duo of Taylor Russell and Lexie Almodovar that was not enough for Rhode Island to overcome. The two contributed four out of the six consecutive points to secure the second set.

Set Three - Dayton 25, Rhode Island 15
The third set was contested early as the Rams remained within striking distance until two unsuccessful Rhode Island challenges gave the home team the momentum they needed. Dayton returned with a five-point push until back-to-back kills from Erika Bracey and Madi Disu put a halt to the home team's run. Rhode Island recorded three blocks to reach double-digits but was unable to create any sustainable momentum. The Rams scored just five points off four Dayton errors before the home team was able to secure the match.
