KINGSTON, R.I. —Two Rhode Island women's basketball signees earned nominations for the 2025 McDonald's All American Game. The nominees were announced on Wednesday with the final roster of 24 players being announced later in the month.
Vanessa Harris and Amori Jarrett were nominated for the all-star game that is reserved for the best high school players in the nation. The duo signed with Rhode Island in November for the following year.
Harris and Jarrett were both nominees for the "East" team.
Harris joins the Rams from Glenarden, Md. as a 5' 10" guard. "We are so excited about Vanessa joining our Ram family," said women's basketball head coach Tammi Reiss. "She is a dynamic combo guard that is a three level scorer as well as a creator for her teammates. I love her competitive nature and aggressive attack offensive mentality. She thrives in transition and in the open floor. Her court vision, handles and passing skills make her an electric transition guard. Vanessa can create her own shot at any time and get you a bucket. She plays at a highly competitive high school in the DMV area and played on the EYBL circuit against top competition. She is battle tested and loves to play against the best. I love Vanessa's character and value system and she is a true student athlete. She fits our culture perfectly."
Jarrett signed with URI as a 5' 8" guard from Catonsville, Md. "'Shooter, Shooter, Shooter.' That's how I describe Amori Jarrett," added Reiss. "We needed to add 3-point shooting and Amori fits that bill. She was one of the best 3 point shooters on the Adidas circuit this summer. She is not only a shooter, but can attack the basket off the bounce and finish at the rim. Amori is a big shot maker and loves to take and make game winners. She also brings muscle on the boards from the wing position. Amori and her family zinged from the first visit with our staff and players and committed to our program over a year ago. She is a vivacious, fun-loving, high character, team-first player. I am so happy to call myself her coach and welcome her family to our family!"
