RHODE ISLAND AT DUQUESNE - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Duquesne meet for 62nd time Sunday.
- It's the second straight year the Rams are making the trip to Pittsburgh.
- The Dukes have the advantage in the all-time series, 38-23.
- In the last meeting between the teams, Duquesne held on for the 70-61 win over Rhody at UPMC Cooper Field House.
- The last Rhody win in the series was Dec. 31, 2022. The Rams won on home court, 70-63.
- The first meeting all-time between the two schools was Dec. 10, 1983. Rhode Island won, 77-55 in Pittsburgh.
SCOUTING THE DUKES
- Duquesne fell to Dayton last time out, 80-71, for its third straight loss at home.
- The Dukes are 8-3 at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse this year, will the three losses coming in A-10 play.
- Duquesne is led by national sensation Megan McConnell, who's averaging a league-best 19.0 points per game.
- McConnell is one of only three players nationwide to record multiple triple-doubles this year and holds the program record for the most in Duquesne history with four.
- Most recently, McConnell was named to the midseason watch list for the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award presented by Her Hoop Stats.
- Duquesne freshman Mackenzie Blackford was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday after playing a pivotal role in leading the Dukes to their first two conference wins of the season. She averaged 16.5 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting an impressive 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from the field and 60.0 percent (9-of-15) from three-point range.
RAMS ON THE NATIONAL STAGE
- Rhode Island-Duquesne is the second CBS Sports Network broadcast for the Rams this week.
- Rhody hosted George Mason on Sunday for the first nationally-televised game of the season.
- The play by play will be Jason Knapp and the color analyst will be Leah Secondo on Sunday.
ROADY RAMS
- Sunday will be the fourth road trip in five games for Rhode Island.
- After trips to St. Bonaventure and Davidson, the Rams returned home to host George Mason before turning around to go back on the road at VCU Wednesday and Duquesne on Sunday.
- Rhody is 4-4 in true road contests.
KAUR CONTRIBUTIONS
- Rhode Island center Harsimran "Honey" Kaur has had six straight games scoring in double-digits.
- Last time out at VCU, she had a team-high 17 points on 8-of-16 from the floor.
- She leads the Rams at 13.2 points per game. Her six double-doubles are also a team-best.
- Kaur earned her first career Atlantic 10 weekly nod on Dec. 30 after being named Player of the Week.
- In conference play, the San Diego transfer is averaging a double-double pairing 18.0 points and 11.1 rebounds per game.
